0:08

hi welcome again to Bob's Blueprints I'm

0:11

Bob Chastain president and CEO. Uh, it's a

0:14

rainy day outside so we're going to show

0:15

you what's going on inside the office in

0:18

our historic TGO building which is now

0:21

construction offices. Don Johnson, uh one

0:25

of the owners of Icon Construction is

0:28

here with his giant computer screen and

0:31

Sheva our zoo architect. Don I have a

0:34

couple questions for you. What do you

0:35

appreciate about rainy days? Um

0:39

nothing. Right, right now we're fighting

0:42

all the water. We've got three pumps and

0:44

we're getting a fourth pump trying to

0:45

pump everything out so we can get back

0:47

to work hopefully by the end of the week

0:49

to dry everything out.

0:51

What's the biggest rock you've moved?

0:53

Probably 80,000 lbs. So it's about 8 foot

0:57

tall, 10 foot long, and six foot wide

1:00

Sounds like a small rock. So we had to, we had

1:02

to split it four times just so that we

1:04

could get it out. Yes.

1:06

Anything else you want to tell anybody

1:08

at home? We're having fun out here. What is the

1:10

strangest thing you've seen

1:12

at the zoo so far on this project? Well,

1:15

the thing I like the best is talking to

1:17

Albert the goat. Yeah? Yeah. And then when

1:19

we built the rocks up there, so he really

1:21

likes the the gold pile. What does he say

1:24

get you some help. I'm not sure what he

1:26

says to me. He just kind of squeaks to me.

1:28

He gets up and looks at me. But he only

1:30

recognizes me when I have my hard hat

1:32

and vest on, okay. Other times when I walk

1:34

up there without it he does like "Who is

1:35

that guy?" Could we get you first and

1:37

last name. I'm Jim Milan with Rusin

1:40

Construction. Okay What's your favorite piece of

1:42

equipment on the ground so far? Um, would

1:45

be my high cycle vibrator. Its how we achieve

1:49

good consolidation in these tall walls

1:51

and for quality. How much concrete are

1:54

you going to be pouring on the job? Any

1:55

way to help people understand that?Um

1:58

it's quite a bit. Uh I don't have a total

2:00

number in cubic yards. Um but the sloping

2:03

elevations is is really challenging and

2:05

what goes in first and and scheduling

2:08

all that. Yeah. Um we're coming up on an

2:10

architectural pour. It'll be a board form

2:12

pour so it'll be concrete but it will

2:14

look like wood when we're done with it.

2:16

So cool. Yeah. No thank you. Everyone at

2:19

Rusin is excited to be a part of this

2:20

project. Perfect.

2:23

How's it going Bob? Good. Uh largest rock

2:26

uh that you've been a part of? You can't

2:28

use Don's. Oh man I can't think of

2:31

another one other bigger than the one he

2:33

has. The one and that's that's always a

2:35

super cool process too where they drill

2:37

holes into it and put the expanding

2:38

concrete in it to crack it to be able to

2:41

even be able to move it around sight is is

2:43

pretty impressive. What about your favorite

2:45

animal? It's got to be the Meercats. Oh

2:47

yeah. Yep Just walking by, and I know

2:49

we're more so out of the north section

2:51

now, but when we were over there they

2:53

were just as curious as anybody else to

2:55

see what was going on. So that was pretty

2:56

interesting. Given we're not working

2:58

outside today, what are you working on

3:00

and how are we trying to stay on

3:02

schedule? So with building with with it

3:05

goes a lot of paperwork and so on rainy

3:07

days like today it's it's it's a good

3:10

time to catch back up on paperwork

3:12

whether that's submitts or questions

3:14

about the project so that once

3:16

construction does resume we're ready to

3:19

go. Let's see what Don has to say about

3:22

what we do on rainy

3:24

days. So Don we're not working outside

3:27

what's getting done? i'm getting caught

3:29

up on emails and uh updating schedules.

3:33

How many do you have right now?

3:36

20,244

3:38

[Laughter]

3:41

You've only deleted 14,000 I think we

3:44

need to get some things done. So today is

3:46

a good day to clean it up. Yes All right.

3:49

Let's go see what Sheva's up to. What are

3:52

we getting done on a rainy day. Well I

3:55

only have 181 emails. Oh well that means

3:58

you're like a little bit more studious.

4:01

That's great. Um I'm actually multi

4:02

multitasking. I'm working on um a design

4:06

for retrofitting the existing giraffe

4:09

basement to our commissary. Our new

4:11

commissary and some research on gorillas

4:14

and orangutans. So keeping busy on some

4:16

other projects to keep the pipeline

4:18

moving. Perfect We appreciate you

4:20

following along and uh thanks for

4:22

joining us on a rainy day.
